Introduction - The Running Egg Shell
What future holds for us can only be speculative. The predictions are based on the past and the present systems of working. Based on these systems we can rebuild our transportation structure such that the future is safe, clean and harmonized.
Man has always been finding solutions to move from one place to another in a better, faster and safer way. In this process he has always been creating machines and systems that make him happier. What is journey to him? In a race against time his idea of journey has merely come to moving from point A to point B. This has perhaps given rise to a very introvert type of designing for transportation.
Ironically in an effort to remind himself of what a Journey is, he has created machines that give him breath taking experiences. Machines like motorcycle give an advantage to the user(s), as he is always in direct contact with the immediate surroundings. It gives an experience matched by no other modes. Thus the importance of the journey is realized. In an effort to keep this concept alive a car has been designed that breaks the conventions of a four wheeler.
The concept
The concept of keeping the user(s) in direct contact with the immediate surroundings was kept constant. Even though the idea was borrowed from the motorcycle, safety and comfort required was kept in mind. From the beginning this concept deviated from the conventional introverted type of designing for cars where a user feels only its interiors.
This car was pulled inside out so that the user(s) is suspended directly on top of the surface he is traveling. The shell that is suspended also enables the user(s) to get a panoramic view of the surroundings. This would involve the driver in understanding the surroundings and give a unique experience of the journey.
The initial idea for the form of the car started from a sphere where there are no corners and is treated equally from any angle. But since this raw form is alien to the automobile world a more elongated shape was preferred. This would keep the link of the past and the present in the future.
The running position of the car was also inspired initially by the bike. The whole car has resorted to an organic form. This form will bring it closer to living beings which is a remainder of how nature shapes things.
The 4 Parts
This car is divided into 4 main parts
The shell
This is a mono cockpit design where the user(s) sit inside a doubly reinforced transparent fiber material that is extremely strong and light. It is as if the user(s) is sitting inside a helmet where in case of a collision, the shock dissipates along the surface area. This egg shell is made up of two layers, the outer shell is internally magnetized and the internal shell is externally magnetized. This system creates levitation between the two layers of the shell .The space between the two shells are vacuumed to cut down the external noise to zero. Once inside the car the external noises can be herd if required through electronic media. This gives an option to the user(s) to choose between zero sound level to the desired level of noise.
The Tail
As the transportation systems becomes faster and faster the traveling distances will increase. A car won’t be a car any more, it would be a resource to get what you want. It would be your utility. Keeping this in mind the tail has been designed for extra space where the user(s) can store anything from a surfboard to a tent. On long distances travels the user(s) will never run out of any sort of supplies.
The chondrian box
The name being derived from the power house of a living cell ‘the mitochondria’ suggests that this box houses the power house of the car.The main power cell can be a hydrogen cell unit or an air compression unit or a methane cell unit or simply a magnetic propulsion unit where magnetic levitation can be used to propel the wheels directly. The space provided inside the box is flexible depending on the requirement of the user(s).
The legs
The whole car is supported on the legs that are connected to the tires. These legs can move in any direction at their joints depending on the requirement. This is achieved through a frictionless levitation between the ball socket joint, the movement can be controlled electronically by varying the magnetic field. This ensures a very fast response. Using this system this car can stand up so that it occupies less space for parking or it can stretch to a ‘lay down’ position for faster speeds. These struts adjust automatically and act as shock absorbers and responds to even the slightest change in the surface and balances it self.
